I am raising money to create my very first short film, THE OTHER HALF (written and directed by me, Karmen Wells). The funds raised will go towards hair & makeup, costume design, stunts, special FX, and feeding the crew.

The movie business is a precarious industry with few doors available to walk through, so I decided to make my own opportunity with this short film. I already have the location (my family’s farm just east of Asessippi, Manitoba), a script I adapted from a short story, and a cinematographer, Adam Dolman. This will very much be a crew of friends creating together, and what we need your help with are the funds to carry it all out.
Adam’s 10+ years behind the camera gives us full access to the technical equipment required for the shoot, but we’re still hoping to raise $6,000 to achieve the full vision for this story. Your support will allow us to create beautiful costume/makeup designs, build safe and exciting stunt rigs, and feed the team during principal photography. It will also be used to access professional editing suites and special FX in post-production, and to submit to festivals when the time comes.
Short films rarely have a return on investment and are typically only used to help the filmmakers gain visibility and credit in the industry. For this, your support means the world to me and our crew.
